How It Works
It starts with a complimentary conversation to lay the groundwork, explore context and identify objectives, and mutually discern if there’s a good ‘fit’ and whether I may be of value to you and your company, whether in a coaching capacity, strategic advisor, or as a fractional executive*.
If we decide to move forward, most initial client engagements are six to twelve months, focused on one-on-one advisory and/or coaching, anywhere from once a week to twice a month for around an hour each time (plus I’m always available via technology between scheduled sessions as things come up - ping me whenever needed).
Often the organization sponsors the work and one (or more) executives are the actual client(s). Or a business owner or startup founder is the client. Client confidentiality is crucial.
This structure creates the trust and discretion required for honest dialogue, thoughtful challenge, sustained leadership development, and better decision making.
Success Factors
Fit. Personalities need to gel. If the fit is not good, we’ll both know, and I am happy to recommend others to you.
Trust. This is earned over time of course, but from the first meeting, confidentiality is paramount. You must be willing to be honest and soon come to view me as a safe confidant. If not, I will help you find someone else.
Willingness to learn and be challenged. Most of us are more close minded than we realize in areas where we would do well to be more open minded. If you’re not stretched widely, you will eventually snap something. It’s important to be coachable.
Commitment. This is necessary for success in any endeavor. I will give you my 100%. A client’s benefit correlates to their level of commitment to the process.
*Fractional COS, COO; and Advisory
For some clients the work is focused on specific initiatives, challenges, or opportunities, such as:
Helping a founder-led businesses get aligned and executing in 90 days;
Helping an organization fix stalled growth and leadership misalignment; or
Helping a CEO clarify strategy, prioritize, and build a high-performing leadership team.
